Christine De Leon-Manipol

Secretary of the board

I am a “probinsyana” who graduated from the University of the Philippines -Diliman with a degree in B.S. in Business Administration and Accountancy. I became a licensed CPA in 2002 and worked for ten years at the largest electric company in the Philippines before coming to Calgary. In the last 9 years, I jumped from job to job – from a hotel housekeeper, McDonald’s crew, cashier, bank CSR, CRA CSR and collections officer, bookkeeper, accountant – 15 in total.

I possess 20+ years of solid experience in accounting and customer service in the utilities, financial, retail, hospitality, food, and automotive industries. At work, I always think, “if I own this company, what would I do?” This one question guided me in implementing creative, strategic solutions resulting in improved sales and collections, cost savings, and customer satisfaction. I am not an accountant who pushes pencil, I push the limits. In 2021, I started my entrepreneurial journey, founding a bookkeeping company. I am doing a full-time accounting job while running my business with a partner from the Philippines. We aspire to be a team of accounting champions, creating jobs in both Canada and our motherland.

I love numbers, but I am passionate about helping and empowering people. My deep calling is to uplift others - a worthy and fulfilling endeavour. I am an advocate for “malasakit,” a Filipino value manifested by putting others’ interests above our own.

“The place God calls you is the place where your deep gladness and the world’s deep hunger meet.”
